Why did I choose human figures?
I chose human figures for many reasons: firstly because I enjoyed Unit 1- Portraiture as it was fun to edit something more unique. As I loved how to edit in different ways on Photoshop and PicsArt, by work inspired by John Baldessari, for example. Also human figures expresses peoples feelings and emotion behind a photograph from knowing if the person is happy or sad. For example the artist `Gullian Wearing`; showed emotion by going around Birmingham asking people to write word on a piece of paper to express how they are feeling inside.
Melinda Gibson
FORM
This image that Melinda Gibson has take is of two figures, this photography is candid. The image is real but she has further edited them. The two figures are the most important and the focus of the photo as Melinda has heavily edited them, which is really good. She has also replaced the background which is converted into black and white.
PROCESS
Melinda Gibson has the taken the photo in natural lighting and the source is the sun. The sun is in front of the two figures as their shadows are reflected behind them. She has edited the whole photograph by adding different layers. The photographer carefully placed figure as the image in the silhouette matches the image in the background connecting with white lines. The right figure is a collage of the nature
country side, which the location of the overall image is more rural with
cement floor and green wall which contrasts.

The first thing that attracted me to Melinda Gibson's photography was that she heavily edited the images which she manipulated and changed different parts of the photograph, for example Melinda replaced the two figures with different vibrant backgrounds such as a living room and a garden. I also love the fact the colours Melinda used in her work blend and jell well together; this what makes it unique and stand out.

Sakir Yildirim
FORM
This first photo that Sakir Yildirim has taken, is of one figure which is duplicated. The image is real but has been further edited. The duplicated figure is the most important and the focus of the photo as Sakir Yildirim has heavily edited them, which is really good. He also has changed the saturation of the image. The second image has been taken of one figure in a close up angle. He has taken photographs in different angles to reach the tone of the image.

The first thing that attracted me to the first image was that its unique style of distortion such as the artist using a liquify tool. I also love the saturation of the image which stands out the tone of the setting.
The first thing that attracted me to the second image was how the image has been taken and edited. As the image is a close up of the female, the different sections of the image being rearranged and cropped into different places. especially, how as the image been rearranged there are multiple different eyes that has been cropped, showing the audience the focus of the image.

Sakir Yildirm had taken the photographs in a well-lighted room as in the first image has been taken outdoors, this which makes the photograph more natural. In the second image, the background is plain white, leaving the women being the main focus. Sakir has edited the first photograph to add another layer to duplicate the male figure; he has used a marquee tool to join both figures. Then which Sakir creates a liquified movement by using a liquifed tool. The artist has adjusted the exposure, the brightness and sharpness to set the mood of the overall image.
In the first image, Sakir has used a cropping tool and made new layers to rearrange parts of the photograph into pieces, for example in the image the right side of the women figures hair has been rearranged to the left side. The type of angles Sakir Yildirm used is straight up angles on the figure by close up and far.

My final pieces in the style of Melinda Gibson and Sakir Yildirm
Evaluation
The theme of this project was in the theme of Human Figures linking to the theme portraiture. In my opinion, I believe that my final piece links the two artists very well by the way I portrayed the image. Firstly, as I used rural and industrial images in the style of Melinda Giibson, this is to create contrast in my images. I did this by masking images such as flowers for example over parts of human figures bodies, this was effective as you can see the variation of the rural and industrial settings and items such as a flower or a ladder. Further more also in the style of Melinda Gibson, in one of my final piece edited image I changed the background to black and white. This was powerful and effective because the black and white background contrasts with the colour of the human figure of all the rural and industrial images.
